The Friends of Hindon Church
Registered Charity: 1119424
The Friends of Hindon Church were founded in 2007 with the express purpose of raising money to help fund repairs, alterations and enhancements to the fabric of the fine Victorian church of St. John the Baptist that graces our village High Street. Our charity constitution does not permit any monies raised to be used for the day-to-day running of the church. We work in conjunction with the PCC who request money as required for specific projects. Since its inception the Friends have raised in excess of £43,000 and so far this has been used to fund changes to the heating, to install toilets and an updated kitchen and to make repairs to the roof. Our fundraising activities have included concerts and pantomimes, two street fairs, open garden days, an annual Safari supper and our twice-yearly, highly popular, Big Breakfasts.
See the 'What's On' section for any forthcoming events.
In 2017 the Friends were left a substantial legacy in the Will of a village resident, Richard Dewhurst, who wrote books about the church and the history of Hindon. This money will enable us to continue helping the church for a good number of years to come.
If you would like to become a 'Friend' please contact our membership secretary. Annual membership £10.
